Folio: searchenginecollege.com t-shirt concept
Search Engine College needs a new t-shirt design for the forthcoming Search Marketing Expo in Sydney in a few months SMX…
So in the spirit of ‘free advice’, here’s my 2¢:
- It’s only one colour: nice and strong, and nice and cheap to produce.
- I’ve strengthened the College logo by only using the most unique component – the mortarboard hat.
- For full impact, though, I turned the mortarboard hat into a sideways smiley face. The impact is in the fact that we (as geeks) are naturally drawn to turning our heads sideways to ‘figure out’ a smiley that we’ve never seen before. This *tiny* 5-second stop-and-stare is just enough to make it memorable.
- I restrained from putting the url and logo on the front of the shirt, to keep the impact of the smiley strong and clean. The url and logo appear high on the back of the shirt, though, so that it stands out if you’re in a crowd, or if someone has just passed you, and wants to know who the heck that smiley was for…!
Without further ado, my submission:

Enjoy!

Who I’d like to know is who was voting for those other shirts…
My money is on a no voting system next year for a shirt, they’ll get someone to design it properly.
Nice work by the way.
